Brownie Dilemma

Oh for the love of God, will someone please tell me how to get brownies out of the pan!!! I have come to realize that I am a good mom overall, but in the department of baking I fall short. I have attempted to bake some brownies and the past two times we end up scraping them from their glass baking dish. It is like they are holding on for dear life, not wanting to leave their 4 walled environment. There must be some secret that eludes me.

So, if you have wisdom of this nature, please help me to right my wrong. Inquiring minds want/need to know!

Have you tried stonewear? I've found that to be quite effective. I rarely have to peel anything out of there. Though brownies are always somewhat of a challenge due to how gooky they are...

Thanks MarsGirl! I have not tried stonewear yet. I need to not spend money right now, so I am am still ins search of an answer...

Well, I had lunch at a place called the Short North Piece of Cake where I asked for professional advice.

The specific recommendation was to use parchment paper or spray oil. Evidently, butter burns rather easily and contributes to sticking in my particular situation.

Who knew?

You could also try the foil sling technique. Put two pieces of foil down in the pan before filling it with brownie batter. The foil pieces should be long enough to overlap the sides of the pan. Once the brownies are baked and cooled a little, you can lift them all right out of the pan using the foil sling. It wouldn't hurt to spray the foil with Pam, either.

Papa suggests- try rubbing with butter- then dust heavily with flour before filling pan with mixture. Works for me!

I use parchment paper :o)
I think even if you shoveled them out with a spoon and ate them that way they'd be good though LOL

Yes the shovel method has been delightfully delicious but not very presentable.

I will however work the parchment and foil sling method and give it a try. As a last resort I will dust with flour.

Thanks guys for helping me with my dilemma.

Looks like I am rather late in giving my hits but the cooking spray works like a dream. It really doesn't add to or take away from the taste of the brownies either. Letting them cool, even slightly will help them set up as well.

I agree; I've had reasonable success with the cooking spray... And it's much easier than the old "butter and flower" method...
